Is Our Kitten A Maine Coon Also?

by Lisa
(Gananoque, Ontario)

This little guy my daughter brought home ln February, and after reading all the traits of a Maine Coon, I'm thinking I could have 2 in the house!

Love feedback, let me know what you think!!

Love my dyson

You cat is so cute!

I personally have 4 cats and a cocker spaniel. I bought the dyson animal a few years ago and its just awesome. Will definitely help with any hair problems.

Little Mixed Breed?
by: Phyllis

What a beautiful little creature you have! Bless you for taking him in. If the coloration in your picture is true, he could have a little Russian Blue in him.

They look dark blue-gray but when the light is right, they really are blue with a silver outlining. Very impressive. they are a very large cat too, gentle giants.

Perhaps your's is a mix of the two. If so, you will end up with a drop-dead gorgeous cat. Best of luck with him.

Vacuum Cleaners

Should be thinking about that myself. Besides two long-haired cats, I have a Samoyed dog that sheds like mad all over the place! Not to mention, I have past-the-waist hair myself.

Investing

Yep, I'm going to be investing in a Dyson ;) We have had many cats over the years, but we have never owned a long hair cat, let alone two of them!...We also own a yellow lab who sheds a LOT.

2 cats

How good is your vaccum cleaner? :)

I have always had multiple cats, but never two long haired ones in the house.

Is he a Maine Coon, and how large will he get?

by Nicole Redden
(Hubbard, Oregon)

This one has the same markings and look as my kitten.

This one has the same markings and look as my kitten.

I have a black and gray kitten that I believe is a Maine Coon, he has long cotton-like hair with a gray tuft around the underside of his neck and a large one on his stomach.

He also has a discernible "M" on his forehead, and he's nine weeks old reaching about ten or eleven inches in length with ridiculously large paws.

I've always wanted a Maine Coon and I'm hoping I finally found one. I'll attach a picture of an almost identical looking cat, though it's not him sadly, and I was hoping someone could confirm what I'm suspecting.

Much thanks!

The "M"

Pretty cat---but the "M" has nothing to do with the breed. All tabbies have the "M"

Maine Coon

He definitely has Maine Coon characteristics. he'll probably grow to about 17 pounds.

Maine Coon...maybe...
by: Toni Bondy

Hi there!
Your new kitten might be a maine coon, but without pics it's hard to judge.

My son has a black smoke that's a cross between a persian and a maine coon. He's a big fluffy bundle of wonderful.

His face is the only thing that gives away that he's not a pure bred maine coon. It has the wrong conformation, too round and a shorter nose.

Can you post a picture or two of your kitten?
Toni

Do I Have A Maine Coon Mix?

by Melissa
(Melbourne, Victoria Australia)

My cat has a lot of similar traits to the Maine Coon.

She has a very big fuzzy tail, shaggy hair especially around the neck...when people come over she walks straight over to them and greets them for affection.

She is very furry and has hair coming out from the bottom of her paws. I have attached photos these are the best ones I have at the moment.

Oh - Salem's tale keeps getting fluffier and fluffier!!

by Rebekkah Zois
(Toronto, Ontario, Canada)

Our Salem has all the physical traits with exception to the mane.

His mane is longer than usual, it looks like a lion mane, but he is only 9 months old and I'm wondering if it will grow as he ages. He is already longer than our other adult cats.

He is so loving and kind. His purr has been phenomenal since we got him at 8 weeks old. He is an orange tabby and when he was younger, he was whiter than he is now.

I started looking at this page when a few women from our local cat rescue all said at once that he was a Maine Coon. They didn't see him, I just described him to them. After looking at pictures on google of Maine Coons, it's as though Salem appeared in many of them.

His tail is hilarious. I have joked, as we love him dearly, that when he passes, I will make his tail into a duster. When he gets scared, his tail puffs out to something you would think is impossible.

The only thing I've noticed, is that he doesn't seem to know how to hiss. He seems perplexed if one of our other cats hisses. He is smart and annoys my husband as he only comes when I call him. He chirps and communicates in a way that I have never seen from a cat and I've owned cats my whole life.

He was given to us by our cousins but, of course, we did not get any papers. He is unique and special. Thank you for listening. I can't send a pic as we don't have any on our pc.

CC tail
by: Helen

As a coon cat ages his tail will grow from a feather duster or bottle brush to a look I can only describe as a weeping willow tree.
