2016 Photo Album

Welcome to our 2016 Album, part of Memory Lane!

Here you’ll find genuine photos and stories shared by Maine Coon Cat Nation members in 2016 - little snapshots of what it’s really like to share your home with a Coonie.

These aren't stock images or AI creations, but the real cats and moments that made our community what it is today.

About This Page: This tribute is part of our Community Legacy Project, where we're lovingly preserving cherished stories, photos, and memories from our original Maine Coon Cat Nation community. We're so grateful to preserve these connections and celebrate the cats who will always be part of our lives.

Gryphon and Taun Taun

by: DeanAnn and Dave in NY

Gryphon is a 24 pound, 1.5 year old Silver Classic male tabby with white and Taun Taun is a 16 pound, 1 year old male Classic Red Tabby.

They act like brothers but are actually from different breeders. However, we found out they are cousins, as Taun Taun's grandfather is Gryphon's great-grandfather (a confusing surprise when we compared their pedigree!).

Gryphon "talks" all the time and doesn't like to be very far away from myself or my husband. As he gets older he is becoming more and more of a lap cat (or actually tries to sit as close to our face as possible).

He loves carrots, and can open door knobs with his paws. Taun Taun is "the teenager" of the house. He's always getting into things he shouldn't and often plays "tricks" on his brother (luring him into a pretend attack situation!).

He can catch toys with his paws and play fetch! They sometimes play the game "Who's That Cat", where they briefly have amnesia and freak out at the sight of one another.

Then just as quickly they realize,"Oh yeah, I know you...I see you everyday, all day long."

We love our Coonies and feel so blessed to have them in our lives. They have enriched our lives and provide daily laughter and joy.

Gertie Moo & Daisy Moo

Meet Our Cheeky Monkeys Gertie Moo & Daisy Moo Real Names Migatobonito Dolores & Migatobonito Domsy

by: Anne-Marie in St Helens, Merseyside UK

two side by side photos of two different small tuxedo female maine coon kittens at about 8 weeks of age.

We were completely shattered when we lost our 18 year old Maine Coon, Haimish at Christmas.

I'm hoping you'll see my post in February's gallery, and you'll see how handsome he is, he was and always will be forever in my heart, and it's true about Maine Coons owning your heart.

We were incredibly lost without Haimish, me in particular as he followed me everywhere and we even went for walks together on his harness, that we decided we need to be a Coonie Mummy & Daddy again, and we found the most amazing Coonie lady who lives only 15 minutes from us (fate!).

We went to see Gertie & Daisy @ 5 weeks old, and we were smitten, and immediately decided we wanted them to stay together.

Having only moved in and taken over the household a week ago, our cheeky monsters are now the proud new owners of 2 very loyal, obedient and loving humans!

At 14 weeks Gertie discovered she loves chasing and fetching Pom Pom balls, and playing with water, Daisy is our chatterbox, she constantly sings away like a gizmo, and loves climbing and pouncing on feather toys.

They're both so adorable, affectionate to us and each other, and we're forever grateful to them for bringing back some sunshine to our world.

So, here's to a long and very happy, crazy, bonkers, nutty household and a very long & healthy life for our fur owners! xx

My Big Sister Protects Me

by: Marty in Blacklick, Ohio

two tabby maine coons crowded into a cat bed together.Izzy and Ozzy

I have two Maine Coons from Chasity Petersen, a breeder in Cleveland, TN.

Izzy is a two year old female, and Ozzie is my recent adoption and 7 month old male. Izzy is about 15 pounds and Ozzie is coming on fast.

When Izzy was 6 months old, she weighed 5.1 pounds. At 6 months, Ozzie weighed 8 pounds! He is 8 pounds of energy and silliness.

He loves water and is fascinated by a running faucet. Izzy is more laid back and dignified. They are the best of friends even though they play rough and the fur really flies.

They are both such typical Maine Coons. No fear of anyone and extremely friendly. Not by any means are they lap cats, but they can be found once in awhile sharing the bed right behind you.

Ozzie is a comedian and I have never enjoyed a pet as much as my beautiful Maine Coons.

Once you own a Maine Coon you will be as sickening as me in your bragging and praise for this wonderful breed.

Chase and Ellie

by:  Sue Bizich in Latrobe, PA

fluffy red silve maine coon and bulldog cuddled and sleeping together intertwined with faces close together.Chase and his canine pal

I have 7 other cats. I got my buff classic tabby Maine Coon cat Chase almost 4 years ago.

They are so different than other cats. They're almost dog like and so smart. So I decided to get a girl kitten from the same breeder.

So I got Ellie, a Blue and White Classic Tabby 12 weeks old. So now I have 8 cats, 3 pit bulls, and 2 birds in the house. They all get along great.

Katori

by:  Karl and Lynn Mikolka in Gloucester, MA

One of our two sibling sisters, brown classic tabbies with white, this awesome beauty is 6 months old.

Her name is Katori, which is a Native American name meaning Katherine.

This is our boy Rudy, he's a Maine Coon mix with a wonderful personality.

He came to us from a shelter and has been an awesome member of our home for seven years.

Loving Lynx

by: Jacqui in Sydney, Australia

pretty brown maine coon with distinct ear tufts on a bed.

Lynx is the most loving cat I've ever owned. I have a Burmese, a Ragdoll and a shorthair.

None of them are quite like Lynx. She does like to play a lot and love jumping and climbing on furniture.

I was making curtains yesterday and she knocked my pin box everywhere.

While picking up the pins my scissors went flying and then the curtain and tape measure.

She just sat on the table looking at me as if to say "well, what did you expect!!"

Samson

ginger maine coon cat outdoors wearing a leash.

Sammy is almost 2 & a sweet ball of fluff! He has stolen my heart and won me over in a few short months!

He is the most loyal and sweet ball of fluff I've ever seen! Sam was loyal and loving to me immediately.

He follows me around and knows when I pick up the leash, it's sheer excitement, we're going outside! He loves to wander the garden and scratch his claws on the firewood!

Santana and Magee

fluffy black cat stretched out on a bed.Magee

Santana is a sweet, caring, rambunctious 2 yr old Maine Coon who keeps us on our toes, as well as our other cat Magee who is 3.

The two of them most enjoy chasing each other around the house right after the dogs come in or after Magee takes a walk.

Santana or as we call him "Tany" is a very vocal young man, but also trills and does what I call a humming sound which is nothing like a purr along with other unique sounds.

Tany's favorite thing is the water fountain where he uses his large polydactyl paws to drink with, which means I'm cleaning the motor out every few days.

Magee on the other hand likes to drink the water flowing out of the fountain. Though I didn't know it at the time Magee ended up a rescue as he was way too young to have been taken from his mom, but with Vet's help he's grown to be a 20 lb healthy boy.

I was told he was a domestic short hair/Persian mix but what ever he is he's my boy and I love him just as much as Tany.

They share the house with 2 mutt dogs who are also our loves, and about the same height though a little heavier. We are a happy family although sometimes very crazy.

My Mr Muff

big fluffy cat sitting against a door like a human.

by: Kathi in Muncie, IN

Mr.Muff, He is like I've read here. More like a dog than a cat.

Muff comes when called and jumps in my lap when I say meow. I don't know when this started but I'm sure glad I figured it out.

He is full of fun and playfulness. He absolutely loves to be brushed, he'll grab the brush for more when I'm pretty sure we are finished.

He offers lots of love and he's a real good boy.

My Two Kitties

Here are my two Maine Coons... Harry (the ginger guy) and his sister Maggie.

Both are absolutely amazing cats and very active/playful and just all round great additions to the family.

These photos vary between when I got them to their current age of 4 months.
