Besties: Kennedy and Lincoln

Our Maine Coons look alike, but couldn't be more different. And it's true: Opposites attract ... and these two presidential cats are besties!!!

Kennedy is a 9 year old female tabby with a BIG attitude. She wants things her way, when she wants them and under her direction.

She has anxiety issues so wears a pheromone collar which helps a lot. She doesn't like crowds and hides whenever there is more than one guest in our house.

She is finicky as can be!!! Just when we think that we've found a treat that she likes and buy another package of them, she decides that she's over them.

She is the alpha cat, but she is intensely protective and loving of her humans.

Lincoln is a 4 year old male tabby. He has the sweetest personality and temperament I've ever known in a cat.

He is playful and full of energy. He doesn't like to be held, but if we don't force affection on him he will find he way near us and have some part of his body touching us.

He likes to give licks and kisses and to make sure his older sister gets plenty of exercise.

He has a basket of toys that he retrieves from ... balls are his favorite.

He had juvenile gingivitis and doesn't have front teeth, so he gets his teeth brushed almost every night.

He hates it, but is resigned to it and it has maintained the rest of his pearlies in tact.

Alfie was born on the 15/2/12, he moved in with us on the 10/4/12. He is very laid back and has no worries in the world!

two lazy maine coons flopped and hanging off a couch.

He is very loving and enjoys a good head rub. His favourite thing to do is wreck the scratch post or annoy his half sister Poppy.

He also enjoys sitting on the end of the bath and slapping the water with his paw. We have nicknamed him little shadow as he follows you everywhere.

Poppy was born 28/12/11 , she moved in with us on 10/03/12 and has warmed the cockels of our heart ever since.

She loves playing fetch with any object she can find but has a special place in her heart for my hair bands..lol.

She despises the vacuum cleaner or any other cleaning equipment but loves to attack the clean clothing on the clothes horse, she also enjoys lying all over any clean clothing that's ready to be packed away or just laid out to be worn.

She enjoys cheese and loves roast chicken and parma ham!! Her best friend is her half brother Alfie.

Barnaby and Jack

by: Karla in Washington USA

two photos of a silver maine coon cat.

My two boys are from different litters and were born three days apart. At the cattery, they were friendly, self-confident, and curious.

Jack said "Meow" the second he saw me, and that was that. Then Barnaby climbed into my lap and the deal was done.

Barnaby is a silver tabby and Jack (aka Gigantor at the Window) is a smoke. Barnaby (aka the little guy) is about 18 pounds; Jack was 21+ last time he was weighed, and I think he's bigger now.

And when they stretch out, they can reach from side to side of a full-size bed. They are lively, healthy, self-confident and very social. Mostly.

Bogey and Birdie will be 2 yrs old on the 4th of July. They love to bird and dog watch from their cat trees in the window.

Bogey loves to play with his glitzy mice and littermate sister Birdie has a blast with her ping pong balls.

They love to eat.. especially treats! Birdie is much smaller than Bogey. Bogey definitely likes to boss "the Bird" around, but Birdie is a much quicker than Bogey!

She can jump higher than him also. They are two clowns and are always up to something. Watching them together, it is obvious they enjoy each others company...

Loki & Libby - Oh you're awake!

by: Christina in Tretten, Norway

two purebred maine coon kitties on a bed.

I took this picture today when I was almost out of bed. They spent almost 2 hours taking turns to try to get me up, and for what?

So I could play with the very broken but very much loved fish on a stick.

Loki and Libby are brother and sister. They will be two years old on the 4th of July. I've had them since they were 12 weeks old and after having had them in my life I can honestly say I will always have a Maine Coon Cat, because they are just the most awesome cats I've ever known.

They are smart, playful (when they're not being lazy, which is most of the time,) and very loving.

They are my constant shadows, and I couldn't imagine life without them (which is why they flew with me from America to Norway when I moved here this last fall.)

*Loki is the brown tabby, Libby is the silver tabby.*

Teresa: We also have brother and sister Maine Coons, so much fun! Your Coons are beautiful.

Ruth W: Your Libby is beautiful! She looks like my Lambchop who is also in the January kitties. She will be 2 in April. We couldn't image living with her either.

Rusty is 9 months old and already 13 pounds.

The little fella who is relaxing on Rusty's back is his half brother, Tommy Lee (our little man in a black and white tuxedo).

Tommy Lee has only been with us a couple of weeks and he has already adopted Rusty as his buddy. Rusty is the sweetest cat ever!

We also have a year old Ragdoll, Chloe who is a typical female... loves you on her terms! They are a delight!

Our Girls - Jessie and Molly

After the devastating loss of our 11-year-old Maine Coon, Cleo, to a brain tumour in 2013, my husband and I found ourselves missing the company of a kitty in our home.

That December, we decided to give ourselves a very special Christmas present - two more girls.

We contacted a few breeders in hopes of adopting retirees and were lucky enough to find Jessie and Molly.

Jessie is our 5-year-old Classic Tabby with White, and Molly is our 3-year-old Silver Tabby With White.

They both bring such joy to our lives. Jessie is our goofy, clumsy, funny girl who is always purring and always wants to be on our laps or riding around on our shoulders.

Molly, on the other hand, is not a lap cat but always needs to be near us. She is so sweet and playful, and she does the quirkiest things.

Both have funny little chirps and tend to be on the vocal side - Jessie just for conversation’s sake, while Molly likes to play fetch.

When she catches her ball, she walks it back to us meowing the entire time. It’s the funniest thing!

One of the best things about the two of them is how much they love each other.

They chase each other around the house like little tornadoes, and when they’re tuckered out, they groom each other and curl up on the couch together like best buds.

They are absolutely adorable, and we are so happy we brought these two Maine Coons into our lives.
