Max Relaxing in the grass

by Marilyn Gendron
(Ottawa, Ontario Canada)

Hi, we have a part Maine Coon cat. He is a rescue, we have had him for one year now and he loves his forever home with us.

He goes on walks with us including our dog. He is a wonderful traveler too. When we go to our cottage, he just sits in his cage in the back seat and is quiet during the entire trip.

He has beautiful green eyes. When we first got him, he was so matted that I had to take the scissors to him. His coat is now beautiful and I brush him as much as possible.

He sleeps with us in bed and purrs a lot. Before we got him he was with feral cats in a barn and had to fend for himself, sometimes the people ran out of food so he was on his own.

He also had to look for water, as far as the people were concerned cats were on the bottom of their priorities.

Someone had dumped him off there, the barn was very dirty. I really think if he hadn't been rescued he would not have made it. When I was at the barn he followed me around and licked my finger. That night I spoke with my husband and said we have to take this cat home, so we did.

Little Miss Chubbins

by Lori
(Utah)

We adopted Chubbins from the local shelter after my beloved cat Felix crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

She is 18 months old, 29 inches long from the tip of her tail to the top of her head, and she weighs 19 pounds.

From the moment you start to pet her she begins to purr loudly and leans in for more. She is a bit shy, and still doesn’t like to be held for long, but she sure does love to snuggle right up against you as long as you will let her.

She is the sweetest little character, with the cutest personality, and every day she brings a smile to my face and warms my heart.

All she wants is love, she can’t seem to get enough of it! She has been a wonderful addition to our family!

Tess and Khaleesi

Tess and Khaleesi

Tess (3.5 months) and Khaleesi (3 months) had known each other for a week when they decided to scale our banisters.

We thought it had gone a bit quiet and found them sitting there as pleased as punch with themselves!

Sir Bug

Bug

Bug

Bug is my lover boy. He's at least part Maine Coon.

His mother showed up at a friend's house when we lived in Colorado, and had kittens. We adopted him when he was 6-weeks-old.

It was long before we realized he was different from other kitties that had lived with us, causing me to research what breed he could be.

He is now 8-years-old and lives with us in North Carolina. He is the love of my life. He loves to drink from the faucet in the bathroom.

I've always known we have a special bond, reinforced by the fact that he "grooms" me the way he does our female kitty - licking my face until I have to make him stop.

I know when he gazes into my eyes that he understands everything I say to him. He is definitely a gentle giant - weighing up to 20 pounds.

CHARLIE Lord of the manor

by Dustin Bergstrom
(Black Hawk, South Dakota )

I got Charlie as a rescue about 7 years ago.

He is a bumbling clumsy 15 pounds of coon mix. He likes a good belly rub and his ears scratched (he had mites bad when I took him in)

He is always waiting when I get home and is an absolute fiend when it comes to freshly picked catnip. I wouldn't sell him for the world.

Simba

by Sue
(Lexington, SC)

We got Simba at a shelter. He was very sick when we got him but I knew when I picked him up and he started purring that I would take him home

He took over our house and our other two cats. One cat adopted him but my older cat was slow to accept him He plays with all the toys and his adopted mother.

I accidentally saw a picture of a Maine Coon Cat and recognized my Simba. He has the personality traits as well as the looks. The more I researched the more convinced I am that he is a Maine Coon Cat.

He is very loving and fun to be around.
