Apollo the Stud

Apollo is six months old and was a gift for my 10 year old daughter after she and I reunited after a year of being a part.

She has always wanted a dog but due to our circumstances, we cannot have a dog. What's the next best thing? A Maine Coon!!

So Apollo joined our family. He loves running on his cat wheel, hunting for lizards while walking on his harness, eating massive amounts of food, purring so loudly that it almost shakes the walls, and bringing nothing but complete joy and happiness to my daughter and I.

Follow-up: Apollo is a seven month old male who owns our heart in our household. He eats so much we can barely keep his hunger satisfied.

He loves to go walking outside on a leash and climbs to the top of trees as far as his leash Wall will allow him which is 26 feet.

Although he doesn’t like water much, because of his outside shenanigans, he needs to have a bath on occasion. He’s extremely vocal and affectionate.

Ivar

Amazing Aggie

Here is Aggie my amazing little girl! We bought her of a family that couldn't look after her anymore almost 6 months ago now.

She has a great personality and can at times be very naughty but with eyes like that how can you stay mad?!

Ivan is approaching 1 year on October 6th. He’s been a great addition to our family!

He’s lovable, feisty and stubborn all in one Coonie. He’s approximately 18-20 pounds.

Oberon Nimbis

This is Oberon Nimbis - we call him Obe.

The most loving boy you will ever meet, we live in sunny South Africa, his favourite past time being to knock stuff off tables and watch it crash and break, we can't leave anything lying around!

He's a black Maine Coon - loves love and cuddles but most of all loves to play.

He is now 9 months old and growing rapidly. We always know when he is up to something when we hear that brrrip sound.

This is my first Maine Coon and by far the most favourite breed I've ever owned. Love my boy to the moon and back!

Obe Update:

I sent you a picture last year of my beautiful boy, he is now a year old and it's more like having a toddler than a cat.

He seems to have a weird fascination for eggs, he has recently learnt how to open the dustbin. His favourite thing to take out are eggshells which he then walks all over.

I constantly find myself asking my cat why on earth are you walking on eggshells? Anyway we managed to lock the dustbin, thinking our problems were solved...

haha were we mistaken, he has now learnt to open the fridge... his favourite thing in the fridge? The eggs!! It's even better now because they fall from a height and smash on the floor - he's just lucky he's handsome... lol

I wouldn't want it any other way!

Felix the Innocent

Meet Merce

Awh, she is absolutely gorgeous. I bet you are excited. Sure you will be fine, I got my first Maine Coon back in October, although have had cats before, and he settled in just fine.

Infact much better than my other cats and I guess that is because he was 13 weeks old so more confident that the 8 week olds I had had previously.

He is little Leo on the kitten page - although not so little anymore - and the picture of him sleeping in the basket was taken the day after we brought him home so that just proves how quickly he settled.

This site is great for advice and tips on cat care. Maine Coons are very different to other cats and I am sure you will soon be seeing those little quirky traits for yourself.

Good luck for tomorrow, I am excited for you as know just how you feel. And most importantly enjoy your new little addition.

Listen and Learn...

My advice to you is learn how to trill as a Maine Coon does :) We have three Maine Coon guys, and we absolutely LOVE them.

As I sit here, all three of them, Makani, Ivan and Tinker Taz are in arms reach of me sleeping and enjoying life.

Get use to having to watch where you are going, as your new family member will follow you all over the house and want to know where you are going and what you are doing every second day or night. ENJOY !! :)

Advice

Be ready to give a good brushing everyday, I use the Furminator. It works great. Takes out a lot of loose hair. I also had to put mine on hairball formula food. Cute Pointy Little Ears Practically like Mr. Spock!

First night done

OMG I love Maine coons.. After the first few hours she was happy running around checking out her new home.

And I can't believe how many things I have seen that are coon traits, she was sat like a meercat in front of the fish tank for around 5 mins.

This morning I was woken at 6.30am with the weirdest cat cry I have ever heard. Thanks so much for your words of wisdom and kind comments

Cyrus at 1 year old

Cyrus is a sweetheart! He has been the most active Maine Coon I have ever had! He is fast too!

In one second he can run the length of the house and jump to the top of our cat tree that is made for Coonies.

We had to put a big box on top of our refrigerator because he was jumping on our shelves and then up to our window ledges. That is almost 2 stories high!!

The breeder gave us toys when we first got him and there was one toy felt mouse that became his little lovie. If I tell him to go get his baby mouse he knows where it is and starts playing with it.

He love chicken, roasted the best! He has been so entertaining and he is also very loving!

He is absolutely adorable. These cats are so smart and entertaining. My male Maine Coon is just over one year old. And we love him so much. He is spoiled, but you can't help but spoil them.

There’s No Weeping Willow Here!

This is Willow! She is 1 year old, but one of 4 cats and 1 of 6 animals. She is what we call our big beautiful mediator who keeps the calm in the household.

She loves to sit up high and watch everyone to make sure all is calm. Her purr is like a soft soothing motor.

My friends think she looks like a werewolf when she gives you a stern stare with her big strong muzzle looking directly at you.

My girl Gracie

Gracie is a l year old Maine Coon weighing in at a whopping 17 lbs.!! She’s a snuggle bug, so affectionate I love her to pieces.

She’s also the clumsiest cat I’ve ever owned, knocking things over constantly!
