Is Pita a Coonie mix?

by Joyce
(Wisconsin)

He appeared at the back door, about four months old, sick and hungry. I had no intention of keeping him since I had two older cats already.

After he survived a thunderstorm in the bottom of a trash can with several inches of water, I relented dome and took him to the vet, still not intending to keep him.

He was very sick so I put him in the basement to isolate him from our other two and gave him his meds. He gained two pounds in less than two weeks.

When I took him back to the vet he suspected he was part Maine Coon. We never figured out where he came from. We live out in the country and how he survived I'll never know.

We named him Pita because he was a pain in the *** but now we couldn't get along without him.

Introducing 007 Mr Meowgi Bond!

by Debbie Bradbury
(UK)

Our new kitten was not expected to be Maine Coon, but when we picked him up his owner told us she had taken in a stray Maine Coon and then discovered her female cat was pregnant.

We immediately knew why he was so gorgeous! He appears to have the traits of a Maine Coon with a thick ruff around his neck, extra fur on the ears and is rather large for an 8 week old kitten. What do you think??

Big Red Angus - is he?

by Karen P
(New Zealand)

waiting for dinner...

waiting for dinner...

Angus is a rescue cat and very loving. He has a fascination with water, and likes to sit on the side of the handbasin and watch the water coming out the tap.

He follows me up the driveway each night to my Mum's place for dinner - just like a dog! He has tufts of fur between his toes, but no tufts on his ears. He has a "mane" and is a big cat!

He is very vocal when he comes inside - likes to let me know he is back. He has been with me for 4 months and I am very happy that I saved him from certain death.

Coonie ears
by: Jan

It looks like he does have some tuffs inside his ears - they are called "furnishings". What he doesn't have is the Linx tips on top of the ears, but a lot of Coonies do not have those.

Is Kitty Kitty Part Coon?

by Anabelle
(Los Angeles)

bad thing is she hates pictures

bad thing is she hates pictures

I got my cat from a friend of a friend, and out of the litter I heard mine is the smallest cat. This cat is different from other cats I have seen.

She constantly follows me anywhere and likes to look at what im doing and she runs to greet me when she hears my car, its like having a dog I love it. When she was younger we would play fetch and even now we sometimes play tag.

Everyone loves my cat but I wish I knew what she was.

Cute Kitty you have there. :-) Her personality sure sounds like Maine Coon and she has the ruff around her neck as well as the bushy tail. I am saying yes to Maine Coon X. :-)

Rosie

by Alex V.
(Portland, Oregon, USA)

Rosie is a rescue, who's background I know very little about.

She is big and chubby for a normal cat, even though she is on a perpetual diet and gets exercise (11 pounds).

But she's definitely not as long as Maine Coons get! Long-haired tortoise shell, with furry pointed ears and a dark zig-zaggy pattern on her forehead. Very fluffy tail.

She's a real cuddly sweetie, even though she didn't have a great upbringing. Could she be part Maine Coon? Should that change her diet or care?

Annabelle

by Joanna S
(San Francisco, CA)

Annabelle

Annabelle

I got Annabelle as a foster in late August. She had been surrendered with another cat and was terrified in the shelter.

When we brought her home, the only place that she was comfortable was under a towel tent in the bathroom.

It took a couple weeks before she'd come out of the bathroom, and then even longer before she'd come out from hiding during the day.

There were brief moments in which her personality shone through her fear. Ultimately, I fell in love and decided to adopt her.

It's January now, and she's no longer hiding, though she does still get a bit skittish if people are walking around, and she doesn't especially like visitors.

It took her a while to become affectionate, and it still only comes in spurts, but when she is affectionate, she goes all out. She wants to be in your lap, on your chest, licking every part of you she can get to, and her purr is really loud. She loves belly rubs and chin rubs, and she loves to play.

I think she might be Maine Coon and Siamese mix. First of all, she's huge. Bigger than any cat I've ever had, and she's got SO. MUCH. FUR.

Her paws are pretty big for the rest of her body, which makes me think that she may not be done growing quite yet. (the shelter aged her at 1.5-2 years old).

She doesn't have the typical tufts on her ears that a Maine Coon has, but her tail is big and fluffy. She has the sort of silly, almost cross-eyed look of a Siamese, and her eyes are a lovely shade of light blue.

Lovely LIttle Lily

by Kim S
(Chicagoland)

We brought home our sweet Lily in mid-August. She is now 20 weeks old.

She is the sweetest, friendliest, most companionable kitten I have ever known. Lil does not know a stranger.

She loves everyone--put a human face in her vicinity and she begins purring. She is either playing or sleeping nearby. She is confident, quite conversational, and holds her tail up most of the time.

Based on her personality and her developing coat, I am beginning to wonder if she is a Maine Coon Cat or part Maine Coon. My son adopted an American Shorthair of approximately the same age and Lily is much bigger and longer between her shoulder blades and hips.
Her tail is very long and gets fluffier by the day. She has a lot of ear hair sticking out, and starting to develop tufts on the tips of her ears.

I realize that it's hard to tell at this age, but I'm hoping for some feedback.
