squirrel the cat

Squirrel was our first cat. Unfortunately, my wife and I made the hard decision to put him down on February 7 due to advanced kidney failure.

Squirrel was most defintely a night cat that would always come out and play with his toys. We would always hear him meowing and stalking around the house.

His favorite activity during the daytime was to lounge around the house, especially whenever my wife or I were taking afternoon naps. He would jump up on the bed and snuggle next to or on top of us.

He was a gentle, loving cat and will always have a special place in our hearts.

Love you always Squirrel.

a kitten never replaces ...

A kitten will never replace Squirrel! They are all individuals, I used to think like you.

But kittens offer great comfort in times of sadness, they absorb massive amounts of tears (not to mention self cleaning so they are ready to absorb the next round of tears), they always purr when your soul needs a hug and who cant help but smile when one jumps on your lap.

We recently lost 2 litter mate Maine coons, about a year apart at ages 11 and 12. New kittens helped us through a very sad time. The new kittens will NEVER replace our beloved cats, but I realizes our hearts have lots of room.

So sorry for you loss

I am so sorry for your loss. I know how you feel. It broke my heart when my lil calico passed. I was so heart broken. Praying for you to find comfort and know she is at The rainbow Bridge for one day you and her will be reunited.

Much love to you through this time. Love and purrs from Cathy and Suzi Q and Thomas J here in Rio Vista, Texas

Thank you!

Thank you all for your sweet thoughts and prayers. The loss of Squirrel has been devastating to our family, especially with it being so unexpected.

Maybe if we had had a little more time to prepare, to say good-bye, I don't know. His loss would be difficult to bear no matter how long we had to prepare, he was our child for 11 years.

But it helps to know that he isn't in pain anymore and we have some beautiful memories to share with friends and family that knew him. I'm not sure I could handle replacing him with a new kitten, though I would love to, but the inevitable loss of that new baby would overshadow my connection to him.

Thank you all for your kindness and prayers. It will help it the long road ahead to remembering our dear Squirrely-kins!

Last May my 18yr old Himalayan was euthanized.
Last month I adopted my 6yr old Maine Coon mix
from an animal shelter. He is the wonderful, sweet
boy I hoped for. My condolences for your loss of
dear Squirrel, and hope you find a wonderful re-
placement to take the heartache away.

sorry for your loss

Squirrel sounds like he was a wonderful loving boy. The decision to put him to sleep is one of the hardest in the world to make, but one of the most selfless if he was suffering. He will be across that Rainbow Bridge.

Such a beautiful boy! So sorry for the passing of such a wonderful boy. Never easy to lose a member of the family. Sounds like he had a full life of cat mischief and family love. Gone but never forgotten. RIP Squirrel.

I have also lost a big gorgeous boy to kidney failure...very painful...but life is full of difficult choices. I hope someday you will have another furry friend in your life. My Maine Coon mix was found abandoned as a 5 week old kitten..she now rules the roost!

So sorry!
So sorry to hear that your kitty suffered with kidney problems. If you get another one, please check all the new research results and scientific information on feeding raw food to cats (and dogs). Cats on raw meat diets never develop kidney problems.

I just want you to know that to spare you the tragic pain you must have felt and probably still feel.
Hugs and condolences.

My sympathies

I am so sorry to read of the passing of Squirrel. I am sure he is dashing and playing at the Rainbow Bridge enjoying unlimited toys and unlimited places to lounge!

What a beautiful cat Squirrel was and what joy I know he brought you! I know it's hard to lose a pet that you love. You have lost a child.

I lost my cat on Dec 27, 2011 to unexpected sudden kidney failure. One of the hardest things in my life was to let him go. God bless you in your loss! Hang in there; it does get better; one day you'll smile when you remember him instead of tears.
