What does a 3 month old Maine Coon look like? See real pictures and examples of kittens at this age, including size, coat, and features!
At this age, kittens are starting to show hints of what they’ll become, but they’re still very much in that small, fluffy stage.
If you're trying to picture what one looks like at this age, you're not alone. Many people search for this because they’re considering a kitten or wondering if their own might be part Maine Coon.
If you can't get enough of Maine Coons, you'll love our fun, free Daily Digest!

At around three months old, right when breeders are preparing kittens to go home, this is when new owners start wondering how big they'll eventually be.
Many people wonder this when they're looking at kittens. Often on social media, a breeder will post a photo of a kitten with those big paws, long legs, maybe a sturdy frame, and add: "this one’s going to be huge!"
Breeders do look at structure early on. Kittens that feel solid, with thicker legs and larger paws, often grow into bigger adults.
A few things to notice:
When several of these show up together, it can point toward a larger adult. Genetics still plays the biggest role, especially the size of the parents and the lines behind them.
But remember something very important - responsible breeders focus on health, structure, and temperament first, with size being a natural outcome rather than the goal!
These real examples give a better sense of what to expect at this age, especially since no two kittens look exactly the same:

don't worry be happyPlease say hello to Alisika Penny from Mansfield Nottinghamshire in the UK, the latest addition to our family.
A very lively and loving 13 week old female Calico Maine Coon. A little sister for our 5 year old male Poppymeadow Noah.
I honestly don't know how we have managed to go a full 5 years before adding another one of these beautiful cats.

Tess & KhaleesiTess (3.5 months) and Khaleesi (3 months) had known each other for a week when they decided to scale our banisters. We thought it had gone a bit quiet and found them sitting there as pleased as punch with themselves!

We were heartbroken when we lost our 18-year-old Maine Coon, Haimish, at Christmas. I hope you'll see my post in February’s gallery, where you’ll see how handsome he was.
He will always be in my heart, and it’s true - Maine Coons really do own your heart.
We felt completely lost without Haimish, especially me, since he followed me everywhere and even joined me on walks with his harness.
That’s when we decided we needed to be Coonie parents again, and we found the most wonderful Coonie lady, just 15 minutes from us (fate!).
At 5 weeks old, we met Gertie and Daisy, and we were smitten. We knew immediately we wanted them to stay together.
Just a week after bringing them home, they’ve completely taken over our household - now they’re the proud owners of two very loyal, loving humans!
At 14 weeks, Gertie discovered her love for chasing and fetching Pom Pom balls and playing with water, while Daisy is our chatterbox, constantly singing like a gizmo and climbing and pouncing on feather toys.
They’re both so adorable and affectionate with us and each other, and we’re forever grateful for them bringing some sunshine back into our lives.
Here’s to a long, happy, and crazy life with our fur babies!

Downright handsomeBarron is 12 weeks old and full of energy. He is a pure breed Maine Coone tabby. He loves to cause mischief and mayhem while keeping older "sister" Summer on her toes.
He always settles down for a long nap besides his mommy while she works from home. My first Maine Coone has added so much joy and laughter to my life.

Debbie: That kitten is adorable!!! I am trying not to get a kitten right now, and this makes it hard.

Garvy is our first full blood Maine Coon.
He was born Oct.19th 2012 and this picture was taken around Jan. 17, 2013.
We have owned a number of cats and I have to say this Maine Coon kitten is different than a standard kitten in a number of ways.
He acts more like a dog would than a cat. He has to be in the same room, he comes to the door when I get home, he is not skittish at all, loud noises don't bother him.
He won't take off and hide when new people come around and he doesn't mind being held by anyone.
How could someone not love a face like that.

Tasha: Vic and Bob are 10 days older than Garvy but like you, I was surprised by how dog like they are.
Garvy is beautiful, playful and most probably a bit mental like ours!
Jeanne: Such a cutie! We have a Coonie named Murphy who looks just like him. That sweet picture reminds me of Murphy when he was that age.

Pixie is a Christmas pressy, the breeders think she will be a silver torbie but only time will tell. Pixie is now three months old.
Super active, completely mental and completely adorable. She loves my dog. They play together all the time and even sleep together, even though she has a lovely new cat bed.

Cute, mischevious but utterly adorable. He is 12 weeks old and just a bundle of energy.
He particularly likes stalking our Kyi-Leo dog's tail! Every night his favourite place to sleep is between my husband and I, on our pillows.
Honestly I can't imagine life without him now, and so enjoy the greeting I get everyday when I get home as he runs down the hallway chirping at me.
