The community we’ve built is strong, welcoming and helpful. It’s so nice to spend time with people who have the same interests and passions.

About Our New Group:

We have a nice big FaceBook page with nearly 98,000 followers, but a public page has such limitations.

For anyone who’s unaware, this is how FaceBook pages work:

When I create a post, only a very small percentage of followers (1.5% - 4.5%) are ever "shown" the post. FB would like me to pay to "promote" it to show it to (a few) more people who already follow the page!

As soon as I post, the scammers start commenting. It's of primary importance that our community is never exposed to this via Maine Coon Cat Nation, so I spend too much time banning and removing them. Time that is better spent serving our awesome community!

Most folks are on FaceBook, and it is the go-to for connections for most people.

The reality is that most of you already look at FaceBook daily, so it only makes sense to have a private group there.

Below is a small visual of the scammers on our large, established FB page. Each one of these comments is posted on each one of your comments.

It takes 3 clicks just to delete one, and naturally more to ban the user as well. One post can have 100 of these, and take a significant amount of time to clean up! This is time I should be creating new Maine Coon content.
