Everyone, Meet Stanley!

by RW
(Grover Beach, Calif.)

Hi,
Stanley just turned one this March. He is a Russian Maine Coon purchased from a cattery in the LA area.

Right now he is a little over 17 pounds. His dad is 23 pounds so he has got a lot of room to grow yet.

Stanley has several "quirks" about him. He Loves anything to do with water. He must have had a relative that was a duck, because you can't keep him out of the water.

I go in the kitchen in the mornings and find all his small fuzzy mice and balls floating in his water dish! He doesn't seem to like anything left on shelves or counter tops either. As everything will get knocked down to the floor eventually.

He is a very happy Cat and "chirps" a lot to show it.

So far he has learned how to sit up, shake paws, and even knows how to retrieve a ball when thrown.

All done with patience and goodie rewards treats. I can't seem to teach him how to roll over yet like my other Maine Coon "Pita" used to do (RIP).

Stanley is very affectionate, but prefers laying on your feet rather then in your lap. So far, he does not want to be a lap kitty like I would like him to be.

He is in excellent health and loves to be brushed. He even lets me trim his big old claws with no complaining.

He really goes for the lazier pin toy. He is fast chasing the red dot all over the Living room. He seems to love anything that flutters and is fast moving.

Stanley is destined to be a indoor only cat.as much as I would like to let him out and be with the other cats in the neighbor hood he would soon become a lost feature on the telephone pole like several other cats around me.

Stanley is a keeper for sure!!

Centauri Blu

by Denny Stearns
(Jenison, Mi.)

Centauri is not a pet he's a little people. 5 1/2 yrs old and quite a boy.

He shakes hand, comes when you whistle for him (if he wants to), hi 5s, low 5s, rolls over and always ready for a head bump. Loves tummy rubs.

Never having a Coonie before we could never believe they are like they are what awesome intelligence and sweetness.

We bought Jojo from a breeder 12 years ago.
He is a cameo. Jojo is such a smart cat he still continues to amaze us.

He is aware when we are getting ready for bed and usually beats us to the bedroom claiming his place on the bed.

We love our coonie!

Max and Jagger

Max and Jagger

We got our boy, Maximus Rex, as a 6 month old kitten. He’s very dog-like and follows us, especially my husband, from room to room, and absolutely hates being excluded from anything we’re doing!

He’s now one year old, and loves to play with and chase our other cat Jagger all over the house.

Jagger is a good-size cat himself, weighing about 14 pounds, but you can see how Max already dwarfs him, despite not being fully grown yet!

Beautiful Bertie

by Gloria
(Deal Kent UK)

He is a gentleman with a very caring nature.

Bertie drinks from a running tap and sits on command. He looks at his treat tubs and taps the one he wants. He won’t have any other.

He gives his paw and crunches when asked. He takes me to the kitchen and chooses his food, too.

When I am unwell he massages where the pain is. He takes me to the bathroom by pushing my hand gently to move a step. He sits and waits for me and takes me back to bed.

He sleeps with his paw touching me. He always knows if I am unwell.

He has a cute way of twisting his body with paws uppermost and as I talk to him he quivers. He wants to be friends with all animals but they run or spit as he is so big.

He measures a metre from nose to tail tip. I absolutely adore my intelligent boy who loves conversation.

Hope

Hope is our beautiful 14 year old Maine Coon. She was our granddaughters 3rd birthday present. They have been close buddies ever since.

Hope has been known to call her name looking for her, "Eye-ya".

As you all probably know Coon cats are very cool, I mean really unflappable. Something will startle the other cats, Hope will look up and yawn.

I cannot say how much we love this cat and the breed.

I am sure our house would not be complete without a big old Maine Coon looking out for us.

Sampson

by Catherine

This is my boy Sampson. He is five years old.

I got him eight months ago and he was very scared of people. He didn't play with toys or eat treats.

I took him outside and soon he decided he wanted to walk. We go for walks twice a day.

Unfortunately he won't use a leash. I think it would be easier to saddle a wild horse. He's good on the walks.

The only problem is he has found out where there are evergreen shrubs there are birds so we have disagreements as I do not want him going into neighbors yards.

He gets mad at he when I stop him and marches in front of me hissing and growling. I think he is cussing me.

He has started sleeping at my head which I love and he lets me pet him much more now.

Beautiful Coon Twins! Boris was born Aug 14,2022 just before midnight and Natasha followed just after midnight on Aug 15,2022.

They come from a long line of Russian Pedigree Pageant cats! Hence the name.

Their first home was with their breeders Paul and Sherri Robicheau of Mountain Rose Maine Coon Cattery in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia Canada.
I brought the babies to their new home on Dec 9, 2022

Even though they appear as identical, they both have their own little personalities.
Boris is always up to Badness 😈, he just can’t stay out of trouble, while Natasha is sweet and cuddly and enjoys the Hunt 😇

They are very special and very spoiled😜

Tater was born Nov 8, 2018 in Greenville, TX. We got him when he was 8 weeks old. He has been a joy.

I bought him for my husband for a late Christmas present. He came to us with Conjunctivitis. He started sleeping with me on the spare pillow.

He LOVES to lick my neck and gives me kisses on my eyes and nose and lips. He was neutered at 4 months old. And he gets a fair amount of matted fur on his tummy and on his backside so I have to give him a lion cut. He is now 5 years old.

Odin and Loki at 7 months old

Odin

Odin

Our boys are half brothers born about ten days apart.

Odin is the younger brother but the bigger of the two, he’s pushing 14 pounds at 7 months old, Loki is about 13 pounds.

Odin is a blue smoke tabby, and Loki is a blue smoke with a solid pattern. Loki is affectionate but stays planted several paces away from wherever we are, a bit more aloof and the trouble maker of the two lol.

Odin always sits a bit closer and will sit right next to us, and loves being ‘groomed’.

Both are good brothers with each other and have really entertaining wrestling matches around the house. Both big gentle giants, that play well with our 4 year old daughter, though Odin sometimes gets a little too rough for her liking, but she tells him ‘No Odin’ and he dials it back accordingly very obediently lol

They were King Zo and Loki but my son whose a mythology buff said that in Norse mythology Odin was the bigger stronger BROTHER of Loki, not his father, so with his big silver ear tufts and size we decided as a family to call him Odin lol

King Zo and Loki

by Steve
(Orange County)

King Zo

King Zo

King Zo and Loki are half brothers with the same father, both liters were born 10 days apart so they knew each other from the beginning.

We imported them from the same breeder in the Ukraine. They are about 6.5 months old.

King Zo is a blue smoke tabby and weighs about 12 pounds already, Loki is a true blue smoke and weighs about 11 pounds. I think both are going to be very big boys lol.

They are a wonderful addition to our family which includes two small children who pic up the cats, wrestle them and romp around with the kittens and the kittens just sort tolerate it all, and even seem to enjoy it (most of the time haha).

Wonderful additions to our family!

Adult Weight
by: Anonymous

Maybe it’s not the best indicator, but I’m curious, if there is anyone here whose cats are now adults and weighed in the 11 to 12 pound range when 6 months old how big the cats ultimately became?

Feb 18, 2024
Food and tufts
by: Anonymous

After a lot of research we moved our kittens to an exclusively raw meat diet of ground up muscle tissue, with some organ meat, and a bit of ground up bone.

Supplemented with probiotics and a bit of cat vitamins. Our boys are growing sooo fast, and at 6 months old are bigger than most non-Maine Coon cats.

They have these super cool looking ear tufts, King Zo has those huge white rusts that are like 4 inches long growing from inside his ears, and about 3/4 inch tufts at the tips of his ears.

Loki has shorter tufts growing from inside his ears, but the tufts growing at the tips of his ears are over an inch longs, and give him a devilish look, while King Zo looks like a wizened old wizard or something with those long silver inner ear tufts... we almost named him Gandolph but my 4 year old chose King Zo lol

Thank you all so much for writing
by: Jersey

My best friends name is willow. She is a 15 month old female Maine Coon and I am told there is a mix in her of Blue Russian. She is my baby and boy does she know it. Very smart. I will send a picture of her in a few days when I have more time. She is silver with green eyes. Follows me everywhere and loves classical music, eating, playing, getting into lots of mischief when she can, and sleeping with me.

Again, thank you. Willow is my first Maine Coon, so we continue to grow together. I am a 76 year old senior who lives alone. I adore her.

What a cutie
by: Anonymous

What a cutie. Looking at that face makes me think that this little one is going to grow up and turn into a lovable, but mischievous Coonie just like my 9 year old Kasey. He's a major love bug, but I have to watch him like a hawk. You turn your back and he's gone, only to be found in a kitchen cabinet he managed to get into only to have the door shut behind him. I can't count how many times I have found him just taking a snooze in a cabinet.

One of Angel’s favorite napping positions

Angel was a stray that I rescued. She was approximately two when I adopted her and now almost nine.

My guess is that she was severely matted and had to have her fur cut because it was short and I had no idea then that she was a Maine Coon.

I fell in love with her eyes. It looks like she has permanent eyeliner. She definitely doesn’t have short fur now, and it is so silky soft.

Cyrus is 1 year old

by Pam Cook
(Tennessee )

Cyrus is a sweetheart! He has been the most active Maine Coon I have ever had!

He is fast too! In one second he can run the length of the house and jump to the top of our cat tree that is made for Coonies.

We had to put a big box on top of our refrigerator because he was jumping on our shelves and then up to our window ledges. That is almost 2 stories high!!

The breeder gave us toys when we first got him and there was one toy felt mouse that became his little lovie.

If I tell him to go get his baby mouse he knows where it is and starts playing with it. He love chicken, roasted the best! He has been so entertaining and he is also very loving!

He is smaller than a Maine Coon but
the rest of his features are spot on.

On Thanksgiving we welcomed Maverick, a Maine Coon Highlander mix. Both breeds are large but his face is Maine Coon and he talks like a Maine Coon. His ears are definitely Highlander. At 6 months old he weighs 11.7 lbs.

Does the head tilt when I put my hand out. Loves my dog Jack, but doesn’t put up with herding (mcnabb), purrs when you talk to him, when I sleep at night… wake up to his tiny voice and shiny eyes. A BIG LOVE!
