RIP Naps

Naps (Weegie, Coon, Poly!)

This was my cat of 5 years. I believe he was either pure Coon, or a mix of Norwegian Forest and Coon. He was also a Poly, he had 3 extra thumbs on each front paw, and 1 extra toe on the back.

naps cat

He died in my arms on 9/17 from what 3 vets told me was heart failure. I did not have that confirmed because I buried him in the back yard. I loved him to death. He was a total clown and unlike any other cat I've ever owned.

He weighed about 18 lbs. He was a tuxedo, he had huge paws and tufts coming out of them, also he had furry years. If you Google "Norwegian Forest Cat" his image comes up, and I mean identical. But his personality seems much more like a Coon.

He loved to climb, and this was a stray I found in a ditch near a condo I owned. He would run to me when I called him, he was smart, active, extremely funny and playful. He would somersault down our hallway. He was not a lap cat but would let me hold him. He was very playful, loved his scratching post. There were times when he would chirp, and you cold hear him purring up to 4ft away.

He would sit on his hind legs when begging. He would rest his paws on my knee when he wanted petted. He would "headbutt" me. He would rub onto my leg and swing his butt high up in the air, I'm not really sure why, but it was funny. He would want to be "near" me most of the time, but never really wanted to be in my lap.

His mouth always reminded me of a rabbit face, hard to explain. It had a bunny like shape. He was feisty and aggressive, but I'm not sure if that had to do with him being outside before he adopted me.

At night, when he ran through the house, you'd swear it was a raccoon. Please tell me what you think. I cannot believe how much this cat stole my heart. And I know I will never find another quite like this special boy. I miss him terribly.

I know exactly how you feel. I lost my fur baby last summer and I know I will never find another kitty like her. RIP Naps.

So sorry to for your loss. You have such lovely memories of a beautiful and happy cat, they truly leave a paw print on your heart. He is lucky that he found you and that you loved each other so much

Thank you!
Thank you so much to all who commented. I don't think a day will go by that I won't miss this cat, and it is so nice to know others love/loved their fur babies as much as I did. They truly are special and bring so much joy to life and family.

Sorry

My Scrappy
by: Carol
We too lost our wonderful Scrappy a year ago Nov 1. I still cry every time I think of him. Everyday...He too had heart disease. He went into heart failure after his cancer surgery. He got his cancer from his shots...He fought the good fight for 6 months....Get you coonie checked for heart disease by 5 years old. I'm so sorry Scrappy I didn't know...

So sorry

I had a friend who had a Maine coon mix. He died when he was about 3 years old, due to cardiomyopathy. He did have an autopsy done to confirm for his own piece of mind.

The vet told him a lot of Maine coons suffer from heart problems, especially the males. I'm so sorry for your loss, he was a beautiful cat. Please rest easy knowing the vets were probably correct for the cause.

With deepest sympathy

So sorry for your loss. But know that you did all you could for Naps and that he had a wonderful home.

Coonie
by: Tanny
I am so sorry for your loss ! I also lost my Coonie two days ago ... also because of heart disease ... at the end he could hardly breathe and after one day with him getting more worse every hour, I decided to sent him to the land behind the rainbow.

I almost died with him, I loved this to death - seeing him so sick just ripped my heart out. I miss him so much - so I can really understand how you feel!

I think, your Naps was a Coonie, they behave like dogs sometimes =) when I read your article, I thought, you know my Brenner - and he was a pure Maine Coon.

There will never be one like him - and Naps. But you and me will find another cat to love - different but nevertheless lovely and special - I am sure ! Greetz from Germany, Tanny <3

RIP Naps
So sorry you lost your boy. We lost our Dodee who we think was a Coon mix and like your Naps we think he died of heart complications brought on by his hyperthyroidism, which he was being treated for.

He will never be replaced, but Bones our new rescue MC mix is helping to heal the pain. He has extra toes on his front paws and likes to accompany us on walks! Hope you find another lovely MC to share your life with. xx

I was so sorry to read about your losing Naps. I lost my Maine Coon "Max" just about a year ago. It still hurts and I still miss him. I hope you can find comfort in your memories and pictures.
